how to install fedora core 5? (what is next after balck screen)

ok, i got to the black screen and i booted from cd-rom what next?
i got an inspiron 1000 (dell), is there a code i need to type?
or do i use GRUB or LILO?
could some one give me the actual code to type (if there is one)
or tell me really how to use GRUB or LILO?
please no link unless ur really dotn want to type it.
if you could tell me how to egt the installing fedora screen up please tell me in detail (typing, programs, burning cd-roms, etc.)

i have caldera DR-DOS running the balck screen

Msta, when you boot from the 1st Fedora disk, the installer (Anaconda) should automatically start. If it doesn't, you'll need to enter Boot Options by pressing F12 when the laptop is booting, and change the boot sequence to CD first.
Are you dual booting Fedora/Windows? Fedora can automatically set up GRUB for that.

i am not dual booting and when i put the cd in the computer and reboot. It says the emm386 has FRAMES=NONE and how do u what # error it is ? And i was playing around with the computer by typing: edit config.sys and i say "start new life? y/n" i selected yes and it says "error with the drive" something like that i will take a picture of it and send it if i can get me camera to work.

O, one more thing i am try to install it on an exteranal hard drive so i can take my server anywhere.

I see, well I don't know anything about installing on an external hard drive. Maybe someone else does.
That "start new life" command...never heard of it, sounds like a command in a game

ok, i got it while playing around with the computer i found the error code. It is in the attachment!!!

emm 386 expection 6 (invalid upcode) lol
