How do I install Intel 82810 video driver
I have just installed Suse 10.1 and find my video resolution will not exceed 800 by 600.I am using a HP Pavilion 7920 with the Intel 82810 embedded Video graphics chip set .I have downloaded the Linux version of the final driver from Intel and it has the "zen installer" When I try to open the file nothing happens.I have also tried going to my control panel then to the Graphics card and Monitor icon. When I click on it and enter my root PW my screen goes dark and I have no video input at all and then I have to reboot. This is my first attempt at anything Linux and I am not familiar with any of the installer apps. What am I doing wrong ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

G'Day jontopia, and Welcome to TSF!
Although technically, your issue is with your on-board graphics; I think that as it is associated with "Linux", that you need to be transferred to the Linux gurus in the Linux Forum, so I'm moving you over there. Good Luck with it.

Open a terminal Window and type:
su Enter your root password. Then type: rpm -i <name of file goes here> See if this works. I did a search earlier and couldn't find any info on this drive, but I didn't spend a lot of time on it. I'll take another look later tonight if you're still having problems.

I downloaded the rpm again and saved it to my desktop. From there I right clicked on it and chose to extract it. It gave my a folder on my desktop named "usr" I opened the folder and finally drilled down to FXCom_i386 {the driver)I then right clicked on that and chose "open with YaSt" but nothing happens after that.Am I missing something?
