Mandrake 10 and Best Data Modem
Mandrake 10 will not configure Best Data
56SX92 Modem. I got an error message during installation. I can't remember what it was, some file missing (?). This Modem works fine with SuSE and Windows. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |

I can't get it to work for me, it always says timeout error when it is connecting to network. I am using the same OS and modem, and my ISP is AOL. At first output weird letters when my sis was on, it didn't occur that that might be why but then i messed around with the settings and accidentaly deleted the ppp0 connection using the mandrake configuration app. is there anyway to get it back? Exactly how did you get the modem to work?

I'm not aware of anyone being able to login to AOL with Linux. Their network is a bit different then most normal ISP's.

From what I understand, AOL requires their proprietary software in order to talk to their network. As far as what other ISPs would work with linux, most should as long as they don't require a software program to dial in. Any ISP that just uses the standard Windows Dialup Networking features will work.
