I have got Windows98,XP & RH FC-1 installed on my computer.I use grub to select boot option between Linux & Windows,i accidently enabled LBA during GRUB install.Since then i couldn't boot into my Windows installations.
I tried to enter Recovery Console & tried Fixboot,Fixmbr but it couldn't work. Also i tried to reinstall Windows XP so that my windows boot loader could install, but after text mode setup instead of Windows XP bootloader booting i got a message:invalid disk...Why is this happening why couldn't windows boot loader install. Please help me on this, with any hint or suggestion Last edited by prodigy_cts; 05-07-2006 at 01:25 PM. |

Hi, and welcome to TSF. If it were me, I would start your computer using a win 98 boot floppy, and use the fdisk utility to see what partitions exist on your hard drive. I would expect to find the windows98 partition identified as FAT-32, the XP may either be another FAT-32 or NTFS, and the Linux partition identified as NON-DOS. And a fourth partition of 1meg or so containing the GRUB boot sector identified as either DOS or FAT. If these don't all exist, it may mean you wrote over them in installing Linux.
