After The Storm- Harddrive doesn't work

Hi all,
I posted a thread "After The Strom". Sorry I can't spell storm. Anyway, I reported that my motherboard was dead. I received an ABIT VT7 and have installed it. I am getting an error that no hard drive is detected. Well, I connected the hard drive to the power supply of my backup working computer and it doesn't seem to start. I hear no sound from it. I am assuming that it died along with the motherboard after the close lightening strike. Does this seem right? I have ruled out a suspect power supply. I tried both the sata and the ide power connectors (not at the same time). I could not detect the hard drive powering up with either power supply.
It is a Western Digital WK2500KS. I am tempted to send it to WD if it is covered under warranty. I bought it from Newegg last November. It has a production date on November 2006. I don't know if WD will accept it since it was an OEM added to a computer that I built. I have a new one on the way. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Steve (scifibuff)
