Laugh new here...first question:

i'm new here and just wanted to say hello.

24, female in the tech industry (which i guess means i'm hideous and a freak...yay!) here to share/consume/debate/confuse information about these cute little monsters we've created.

so, i'm repairing old computers about a week back (mine and others') and dug up an old Compaq Armada running Win95. Perfect condition. Used...twice maybe?

Runs pretty good, with the exception of the painfully long "waiting for my windows to shut down," but I was wondering how I can "****" this machine out, so-to-speak. This may involve reducing it to a shell and building a whole new machine, keeping the outer case because it's old school and I like it.

I've been told 2 things since being seen on it:

1. Wow, got the old school white Compaq, eh? Nice.

And:

2. You're wasting your time even starting that thing up.

Well, I have more hope for my Armada and believe it could be a fun endeavor to "Frankenstein" it. Any tips from anyone into making the old walk and talk like the new? I'm checking into adding more memory first, of course. Let me know your ideas. Thanks!
