Aspire 5670
My laptop crashed last night, and I brought it to the CompUSA store where I bought it a year and a half ago to have them fix it. They are going to fix it, but they said worse case scenario would be that they'd replace the HDD and I'd have to get the Aspire drivers and Windows OS back.
Now, I'm fully intending that to happen (would be great if it didn't, but that's my luck). My questions now, are:
1)Is there anywhere on the global.acer.com site that allows you to download a factory reboot disc for an Aspire 5670 that I missed? I've searched all over that site and have failed to find anything, other than a download list of drivers. But even with the drivers, I won't have my XP OS. Can anyone find a recover disc for my laptop on the site (or any other site)? It'd be really awesome if someone could. I know you people are better at that stuff than I am.
2)In ABSOLUTE 100% WORSE CASE scenario, if they repair the HDD or swap it out, but are unable to get Windows XP or my drivers onto it (I mean, they aren't Acer affiliated or anything so they might be SOL on that) then what are my options?
3)If I were to buy Windows XP somewhere online (OEM versions are fairly cheap), can I install that on a laptop that has no drivers or anything? How does that work?
Sorry if this is a lot of questions. I was surprised at how well I took being without my laptop for a while, I'm just worried that I'm gonna have to pay out of the butt for an OS again.
