Evil [SOLVED] Hard drive inaccesible

Hi all,

I have a 250GB maxtor one touch external HDD and have come across a problem that i can't access it.

A couple of weeks ago i bought rome total war, and decided to install it to that drive, and although it would be slower, it would mean it won't clog up what little space my laptop has left.

I noticed it was quite slow when i was navigating around it before hand, but didn't think much of it. I installed it, and could play the game, but when the drive was turned on it did a couple of things:
-Take several minutes to load up
-Occasionally crash the computer
-Sometimes have to be restarted (the drive) for anything to happen

It is relativly full - about 9gig free.

Then yesterday i went to play RTW and it repeatedly crashed my computer. I tried to access it through My computer - it just crashed the explorer, and when i eventually got my computer to recover, a message popped up along the lines of

"Drive E:\ cannot be accessed. Possible I/O error"

It may not be word for word as i can't remember it exactly, but it's about that.

My dad looked at the drive a bit, and it wasn't even spinning up - or attempting to.

Let me know if i need to do something else to help fix the problem,

P.S It's a kinda problem - it's got all our backups!
