I would not go with Vista, I have seen way too many issues and security flaws with it. Also, many games still don't support it, and they run slower on Vista. 2 IBM/Leveno
3 Acer
3 Fujitsu
3 Panasonic
4 ASUS
4 MSI
5 HP
5 Gateway
5 Toshiba
5 Dell
6 Sony Vaio

Brands not on the list are not brands I consider except under special circumstances.
