I would strongly suggest not to do this. Have you heard about all the recalls on these batteries and the damage they can do!. These batteries were not even messed with the way you want to do it.
What you should do is get the AC adapter socket fixed. This is a common problem with HP and the part ($10.00) is available. You would have to take the laptop apart down to the MoBo to solder the adapter on. Or take it to a quailified repair shop that does this type of work ($130.00-$175.00 est.)
Your safety and the ones around you is more important than any laptop.
Please reconsider your options
