P5GD2 Deluxe Bios flash, now no sound

I flashed my bios with the latest, version 1005.003. After that, I have no sound. The sound system IS enabled in bios setup. So I downloaded the Cmedia CMI9880 Audio driver V5.12.01.0007.36 and installed that. Still no sound. Device manager is clean. When I try to start the Windows volume control app, I get a "No active mixer devices available..." message. In Device Manager, the sound device is listed as a "C-Media High Definition Audio Device", and everything under it's property tab is enabled, including the mixer device. When I try to launch the "CMI Audio Config" control panel app, nothing happens.

When the system starts, I can hear the sound system apparently get initialized, with a soft "thump" of sound, but nothing after that. Before the bios upgrade, my sound worked fine. I've tried everything I can think of, but I'm stumped. Any ideas?
