Re: You're gonna love this: I've LOST my CD/DVD!

Hi Sami...and a belated Welcome to TSF!

John has asked me to see if I can get you out of the doldrums with this cantankerous contraption of a lappy.

First up, if you can help out by telling us all the make; model; and age of your 'beloved' lappy.

Next, when you say that your "Print Screen" key doesn't work, is because it is sticking; broken; missing or what?

When you hit the "Print Screen" key, nothing visibly happens, until you open "paint" and 'paste' the image that's in the memory of the computer.

Getting back to your first post...when you deleted the upper and lower filters of the Drive, did you immediately reboot 'The Beast'?
If not all that work has been in vain, The Registry is stubborn as a mule and will not change unless it gets to go 'bye byes' for a minute or two (the reboot).

Just so that I can get my 'wooden' head around this...in your second post you make mention of NO reference to any showing of a CD/DVD...does this include in the Device Manager now?

The fastest way to get to the Device Manager to see it is this way...

Right click on the My Computer Desktop Icon > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager....Now in the list there should be a listing for either CD/DVD Drives or Disc Drives, just click on the + sign and see if its listed...if its not let us know then we will look at the other alternatives.

One final question, has "Mr Hateful Laptop" ever accidently fallen off any of seats of the car, at any stage in its checkered career?

Sorry if I seem to be going over the same ground again, but these little snippets will definitely turn the spotlight on this contraption so that we can determine why it persistently is misbehaving.

Post back with these helpful answers and we will all roll our sleeves up to see what we can do for you and the lappy.

P.S: I sincerely hope that you are on the mend after your rodeo accident.

Kind Regards,
