Dell Inspiron Hang
Hello All!
First, my name is Scott. I own this Dell Inspiron 1501 notebook. I have had about 7 years of experience with Windows, but I have never seen a problem like this.
Now, for the laptop's statistics. It has been reformatted and repartitioned about 5 times in the four months I have owned it. Don't know if that has anything to do with it!?
OS: Prepackaged Windows Vista Home Premium (junk!, now running XP x64)
RAM: 1 GB (1,024 MB)
HD: 40.0 GB (30/10 Part. Split)
Wi-Fi
Mozilla All Around, Only Ran IE Once, Never Ran OE
Video: ATI Radeon IGP Xpress 1150
CPU: AMD Turion 64 1995 MHz
I use Streets and Trips, and about five instances of Firefox at once (never had any problems, even on 192 MB and XP Home smile2.gif I can run the laptop about twenty to thirty minutes, and then it will freeze, and then display a white screen with black bars (the bars seem to be animated), but other than that the computer works fine (I just can't see anything that is going on.) Then, when I hard reset, it says that Windows has recovered from a serious error (nothing new to me).
I have tried speeding my fan up, but I don't even know what motherboard is in this thing! Also, I can't very well get the core down past 51C for anything, and I have found that most of it occurs when the thing hits the 60C range. IDK, maybe the problem isn't with temperature!
Please help! I'm at my wit's end!
