Hello! New to the forum but it's been three days of searching and I've found no help with my situation...anything will be greatly appreciated!
The problem is that I recently purchased a
Seagate 500GB Serial ATA HDD to be added to my system along with my current 80 GB WD Serial ATA HDD.
I have an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe Socket 754 Motherboard that has 2 SATA ports. On the motherboard it says SATA1 where the WD drive is connected and works great and SATA2 where I'm plugging the new drive in. I want to run them serperately keeping the WD as the boot drive and the new 500GB drive as just storage. I don't want the 80 GB drive mirrored onto the 500GB.
What happens is that when I power down my system and connect the new Seagate drive on the SATA2 port, the computer cannot detect either drive. Neither one shows up in the BIOS and I cannot access the RAID window that ASUS says to try to get into by hitting Tab at post. But, when I then disconnect the new drive, the system goes back to running fine.
Any suggestions or solutions? Thanks a ton! Looking forward to being an active member in the forums.
