Possibly yes, I don't know any figures but I have seen it said that if your running from the mains it is better to remove the battery.
What kind of battery is it ? if it's Ni-Cad then it most definitely comes under a special regime for maximising it's life, whereas NiMH or Li-ion are not effected the same way, but there are still ways to treat them to maximise their life span.
