Yes, this is possible on most graphics. Go to:
Start > (
Settings) >
Control Panel >
Display >
Settings tab
Now plug in the second monitor and turn it on. Then, select the box with the number
2 in it and put a check next to
Extend my desktop onto this monitor.
If both monitors are the same resolution, set both to their native resolutions. If they are different resolutions, you must set both to the lower resolution.
