SLI will work with both LCD and CRT monitors.
Please verify that you have all the power connections hooked up on the motherboard. The 20+4, the 4 pin CPU, and the "EZ Plug" 4 pin molex (this one provides power the PCI E slot and is located next to the 24 pin main connector)
Are both of your cards the same? Both GS or GT?
