Quick reply cos I'm in the middle of something else - non computer related
If XXClone isn't recognising your target drive it's because there is something wrong with your USB setup. Joe may be able to help you better with this than me. Can you see the external drive in Windows Explorer and Disk Management?
You don't swap the drives until AFTER the cloning has finished.
You DO need to check the three boxes in "Make bootable"
You don't need to create the floppy disc as this only applies to machines with two fixed drives.
