Help!

My pc has practically ground to a halt....

On Monday I had a warning from my anti-virus software (Symantec) that I have a virus. Symantec quarantined the virus but could not clean it up. I did not record all the details of the virus (apart from the following: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ ddnt.sys Mon 23rd April).

However, on Tuesday Symanted warned me of another virus, which it could not clean or quarantine. I quarantined the virus through Symantec, and recorded the following details:

Scan type: Realtime Protection Scan
Event: Virus Found!
Virus name: Hacktool.Rootkit
File: C:\System Volume Information\_restore{A2F88BA6-CD59-4FEB-9EBC-F670424F967B}\RP218\A0024300.sys
Location: C:\System Volume Information\_restore{A2F88BA6-CD59-4FEB-9EBC-F670424F967B}\RP218
Computer: BOB
User: Rich
Action taken: Clean failed : Quarantine failed : Access denied
Date found: Tue Apr 24 12:00:02 2007

Please can someone help? I've tried running various internet clean up tools, but nothing is detected - i'm guessing the virus is still there, otherwise why is my computer sooooo slloooooowwwww?!
