SATA drive problem

I had a 60GB IDE and a 300GB SATA drive in my PC. The 60GB had my OS on it. The 300GB is used for storage. My computer froze, and then would not restart, giving me the "blue screen" each time. I also couldn't reformat it, as it would stop each time at the "Examining 57000 on disk 0, etc etc" So I put in a spare 30GB in place of the 60GB, which reformatted fine, my problem now is that I can't get my 300GB to show up for anything. In my "F2" setup at the beginning, it lists it as an "Unknown Device". When I start my computer up, it recognizes my SATA PCI card and the fact that theres 279GB hooked up to it. Other than this it's not recognized anywhere else. I think I found a way once to fix it, but it would reformat it, and I really really don't wanna do that, so I didn't look any further into it. All help would be greatly appreciated.
