Hi,
I installed my us robotics 56k internal modem into my dads win 98 pc. It used to be there, it was my old pc, and then i had it in my win xp machine. As i am moving abroad i am going to give the modem to him.

Anyway, i fitted the modem just fine and switched on the PC. It installed the drivers fine but it dont work.

It keeps coming up with messages as "no dial tone" or "modem not installed" I am not sure why as it was in there before just fine. It works fine on my win xp and it worked fine on the old machine as well.

On the modem settings via control panel i clicked the "more info" button and it clicked the line (if you know what i mean) and it seemed fine. However, it did say "no hardware id"

Any ideas as what to do or how to fix it?
