Assume your Comcast connection is a cable modem service?

Make sure you disable the wireless on your laptop to make sure you are not really connected to a weak wireless network and you are really passing traffic to your cable modem.

Power your cable modem off then back on to make sure your laptop is really communicating with the cable modem as well.

Try entering this address in your web browser http:// line and see if your modem support signal statistics, 192.168.100.1. If it does, post the information back here for review.

It sound like you may have a signal level problem with your cable service if the above does not help.
