I just checked, the D610 has an Intel Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz, and the D600 has an Intel Pentium M 738 1.40 GHz. The 738 is a lower voltage CPU than the 750, and it runs at a faster speed, so that would explain the battery life. Also, if the D610 has more RAM or a faster hard disk, then then it would have a lower battery life. And the Mobility Radeon 9000 in the D600 will take less power than the X300 in the D610.
