Interesting question - one that I have wanted to ask as well.
I've been doing without a disclaimer (although I am insured.) When a client's situation looks pretty bleak, and data loss may result, I will give them a call and discuss the possible outcomes before taking action. Fortunately, in my first year in business, all has gone smooth.
From day 1, however, I thought of a constructing a waiver to be signed, but never got around to it (or had time.)
Just today, on the way home from a job, I thought of creating a pre-questionaire type thing for customers to fill out. (Growing tired of sorting through hand-written notes and incomplete PDA entries.) Name, address, phone, personal system prefs such as home page, default browser, what is expected, blahblahblah....
This information is easy for a scatterbrain such as myself to forget or misplace when you are juggling 6-10 systems at any one time.
A disclaimer would most certainly appear on this document.
I believe I will create this document and will share with you when I am done. Any chance you can share a glimpse of your disclaimer?
