I can understand your frustration. Computers can be great tools, when they work as expected. And anchors dragging you down when they don't.
Let's do just a couple more things....to make sure we've gotten all the remnants of these infections and can rule that out.
Before begining the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.
It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please download
Brute Force Uninstaller to your desktop.
- Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
- Click "Next"
- In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
- Click "Browse"
- Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
- Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
- Click "Make New Folder"
- Type in BFU
- Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".
RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download
Alcra PLUS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).
Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
- Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
- Beside the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon
and select alcanshorty.bfu by double clicking on it.
- Press Execute and let it do it’s job. (You ought to see a blue progress bar if you did this correctly.)
- Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
- Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
Reboot into normal windows.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go
here and do the BitDefender online virus scan.
- Click "I Agree" to agree to the EULA.
- Allow the ActiveX control to install when prompted.
- Leave the scanning options at default and press "Click here to scan" to begin the scan.
- Please refrain from using the computer until the scan is finished.
- When the scan is finished, click on "Click here to export the scan results"
- Save the report to your desktop then come back here and post it in your next reply along with a new Hijack This log
I'm thinking that your sporadic internet connection is either ISP or hardware related. Do you have an available ethernet port on the system, and does the issue occur still if you use that instead of USB? Do you use a router as well as a modem? Have you reset either or both of these since the issues began?
