I had to flash my Asus P4C when I first got it for similar reasons.
A P4 is a hungry beast, if you are using a generic power supply I would consider replacing it with a good quality PSU as Linderman suggested. The generics will work sometimes but can cause problems and do not last long when the PC is under load. If the PSU goes bad it could take other components with it.
