at this point I would play it safe and go to the "troubled" hard drive manufacturer's website and download their diagnostic utility run that in the bootable DOS form not the windozs version

fun the extended or full test

what happened when you ran getdataback?

there are all drive drive makers in "My favorite Links" in my signature / then look in Diagnostics
