computer infected
Hi - I am actually writing from another computer as the infected computer does not stay on long enough to do anything. When I turn on the computer the desktop comes up and I can log on to the internet but in less than a minute I get a blue screen with the following message: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer......follow these steps: check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the maufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advance startup options and then select safe mode. Contact your system administrator or technical support group for futher assistance.
All that is greek to me except starting in safe mode which I can and I actually ran trojan hunter and got 3 trojans - Adware.PurityScan.292, TrojanDropper.PurityScan.108 and Adware.Adserve.100 which Trojan Hunter seems unable to remove.
I would really appreciate it if you could advise me on what to do. Thank you - Cathy
