It's true, while you won't see much difference in performace with HT while surfing the net or playing games, if you are multi-tasking you will notice it. HT allows the processor to emulate a dual processor unit by using the unused clockcycles of the cpu in parallel to get muti-threads of info processed faster. So, if you are playing a CD, using word and surfing the net all at the same time you'll find things still run smooth, and don't lock up or freeze as they did in the past. You may want to look at your cpu since the intel site states that the 2.4A 533fsb cpu does indeed support HT...you might have been ripped by whoever sold you the cpu.
