My System

Ben,

First off, welcome to TSF, the best place on the net to find answers and to spend some time...

In all probably its just coincidential that jiggling the usb device helps with the power problem. And by coincident I mean "being nearby" not "happening at the same time by chance". What's probably going on is the power plug-in leads have started to work loose from the MB inside the laptop. My D800 did this and the tech who replaced the MB said it was fairly common. When you giggle the usb device it causes the loose connection to make enough contact to power up.

Is it still under warranty? I don't know how difficult it is to fix yourself. Any other TSF members know if this a DIY problem?
