You can get decent machines from Dell and other places, but there are better deals (and better machines) out there.

I dont know what the availability is like of Acer on the Emerald Isle, but I too would recommend one. Judging from the fact that Joe has a similar model, I'd say they probably are, even if you're not a northerner.

I have a Acer Aspire 5672wlmi (badged 5670). This model comes with a dual core 1.66GHz processor, a gigabyte of ram, a 120GB hard drive and Mobility Radeon x1600 graphics. It plays anything I throw at it very well, and the best part about it was its price- I got mine for $1069, which is about €846. I don't know whether you guys have to put up with that "VAT" crap, but it might be a little more. Either way, it's a good value.
