POST isn't close to running. On IBMs, the HD indicator turns on to show the system is powering up. When there is steady electricity going through all parts (after 2-5 seconds), the power light will turn on and the screen will show the IBM splash. The HD light will turn off and POST will execute. This is either power, the CPU or the motherboard. If you don't have access to another IBM power supply, go right to the CPU part I discussed. Otherwise, try the new adapter, then the CPU.
