Hi and welcome to TSF. You have the ThinkPad 600, not the 600E or 600X, correct? Please provide your type-model code on the botton of your machine. It is located on a black and white sticker above a barcode. Please also grab the diagonal size of the screen. The 'right hand LED' is the sleep indicator. Aside from the speakers, do you hear any other noises from the system. If the hard drive were the problem, the system would power up and give an IDE0 Error or something else to do with the hard drive.
