another consideration is how long have you been running your current windows installation ????

I personally reformat and reinstall my OS at least once per year windows always degrades in time, broken files, registry clutter, driver fragments etc

personally; I would purchase another hard drive and clean install your OS & programs to the new drive and slave your old drive so you can access your existing data ?

drives are very cheap nowdays, it doesnt make sense to suffer any perfromance loss when $55.00 to $70.00 can buy you a new big 160 to 250 gig drive
