Batt Preservation Question

Hi,

I read elsewhere that to preserve lappy batt----esp given I only use mine mobile occasionally, we should charge our batts fully and then remove them, to preserve their potential over time.

My questions are: a) is this right? and b) for long intervals when a notebook is only used via A/C power how long would it take on average for a removed battery to loose its charge---meaning requiring putting back in to fully charge again, and c) if a is right, shoiuld we wait until removed batt is fully DISCHARGED before installing and recharging?

When I thought it was time to recharge mine yesterday, I installed it & noticed it was still 84% charged.

Yes, i am confu-sed.
This is re Alienware Sentia 223; Pent M 2.0; 1GB ram; 60GB HDD; XP Home; blue eyes (lol)
Thanks!!!

Jill
