Well, I'm pretty certain this is some sort of Norton mystery. I'm not very fond of Norton. This is simply the latest reason I have.

Let's try this a couple more ways...

First, go through those steps again,(be sure to do it exactly as it appears) but this time, have it set you to a blank page. See if that helps.

If still no joy, since you've already uninstalled Norton once....

Disconnect from the internet. Pull the plug so you're not online while unprotected.

Uninstall it again. Then restart your system. Then fix that entry with HJT.

Then reinstall and see what happens.

I'm reasonable certain this is an issue with Norton, and not malware. If these ideas don't get it done, you may want to ask in our Security and Firewalls forum.
