With no power applied, if you replaced the MB battery you then cleared the CMOS . Your BIOS is now in default mode with the original start date & settings from the mauf.. You can fix the date issue by double clicking the time clock in your Windows task bar. Setting the time and date in windows will set the Bios also.
Your system should operate fine on default settings but some componets may not be enabled in default mode. Enter the bios at startup (perss delete key or F2 key or whatever is shows on your screen) and check each catagory. If you are not sure what to do , better wait & call a mate to help you. Reading the manual may not be much help either if you don't have experience with BIOS settings.
If no one is available to help, please post your BIOS questions here.
One thing to check for if you have a blank sceen but windows seems to load anyway, you could have the wrong video card selected in the BIOS chipset menu. This gives control to the primary GFX card in case of multiple cards are installed. PCI seems to be the most common default selection. If your 5900 is AGP or PCIe, you might want to change that.
