Hi,
None of the links work, so I googled the Sony Vaio R505EC, and couldn't find any specs, just batterys and memory upgrades. Please could you post working links.

Anyway, if you are just wanting it for DVD and CD burning, then you wouldn't need much, though a fair amount of memory would be useful. Maybe 512MB or even 1GB. But, you can always easily upgrade this.

Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115256 would be good for that. It has a good spec for the price.
