Tech Support Forum - View Single Post - Possible to run desktop using laptop monitor?

I haven't been able to find any posts on this forum where someone has tried what I would like to try. I have a desktop computer that I built sometime back, running a Sapphire X800 GT video card, obviously with a DVI, analog, and s-video hookup. About a month ago, I got a Samsung 204B LCD monitor, but it has developed a whole line of dead pixels so I am going to send it to get repaired. I don't have any other monitors however (threw away my old CRT in the excitement of the initial working LCD).

I do have an Acer Travelmate8204 notebook and it has a DVI and s-video hookup. Clearly, those are meant to display what is running on the notebook to another monitor or TV. What I would like to try and do is hook my desktop to the DVI port on the notebook and display my desktop on the notebook monitor. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks.
