These instructions are per the IBM hardware manual:
- Turn off the computer and dosconnect the AC Adapter and all cables from the computer
- Turn the computer upside down.
- Open the bottom compartment with a screwdriver and remove the bottom cover.
- Find the old backup battery in the bottom compartment and remove it from the battery holder by pushing it in then lifting it up.
- Install a new backup battery.
- Replace the bottom cover.
- Connect the AC Adapter to the computer.

Based on this, it is in the *only(?) compartment on the bottom of the PC.
