Hardware Acceleration may definitely help, but for a newwer machine, I would think it unnecessary. It sounds to me more like a driver issue. I would uninstall the device and reinstall it. But theres nothing I can do from here...

-Were the file corrupt, it wouldn't play at all. This also seems to occur with any 2 video files.
