Here's the update:
I ran through every step, now have Avast installed for anti-virus protection, and so far have seen none of the symptoms which were expressing themselves yesterday, nor is Ewido alerting me to any malware attempts to take over or redirect the browser.
Panda's online scan found no traces of any viruses/spyware/malware, so no report was generated by their website. Here are the other three logs:
