panasonic cf-45 case disassembly

received old laptop for x-mas a couple yrs.ago from a friend who meant well, but isn't computer literate. CF-45,64mb ram,2 gb hd. Was purchased at a refurb. store. sticker on back reads: cf-45nj48jam. Have tried to open case to install 128ram,but it apparently has a lock at back edge that engages edge of mobo w/case halves. plastic case is labeled "lock" next to metal nub sticking out from interior. Do I have to buy a key from Panasonic? Is it worth the upgrade? It appears to have been used very little,it's not all scratched up or damaged that I can see. I loaded it w/windows 2000,works great, just slow as molasses. I'm afraid to monkey around with the "lock" very much, appears to firmly engaged/latched w/mobo. any ideas? thanks for any info.
