Moving files from a once-hijacked PC to a new PC

Hi all,
Back in December, the wonderful folks here assisted me in resolving some issues with my PC. Well, it's time to move on to a brand spanking new PC and I'm concerned about moving files from this one to the new one. See, I don't think I ever resolved all of the issues with this machine, but once it started working well enough, well, I stopped dealing with it.

Do you have any advice about moving files? I wouldn't want to infect or otherwise harm the new PC. To be honest, I don't think I ever knew what, specifically, was wrong with the computer. It all started because I could not update and run Adaware.

Thank you kindly for your time.
