Computer Shut Down

I'm running an ASUS P4P800S series mobo, and an Nvidia GEforce 5600 card. My pc had been running fine up until yesterday. The day before I had been playing World of Warcraft with no problems. I booted it up yesterday morning and recieved an error saying that my video card was not recieving enough power. I turned off the computer and left it alone for a while. I booted it up later that day recieved the same error, and was able to check my email, etc. The next time I booted it up however it logged into windows and after everything had loaded, it turned itself off. The power was completely off. I could restart the computer but it would continue to shut itself down after windows had loaded.

I had some friends take a look at it, and they noticed the case fan was dead. We also took out the video card and reseated it. The computer booted up just fine, and I was able to play World of Warcraft for at least a few hours without any problems, it didn't shut down. I turned it off before bed, and then bought a new fan this morning. I installed it tonight and booted it up and it proceeded to shut itself off again after windows had loaded up. So I reseated the card again, rebooted, it shut itself down. Unhooked the fan, rebooted, it shut itself down. It hasn't given me the video card error again, but I'm not sure if that's because it shuts down before it has a chance.

And the last time I rebooted it shut itself down before it even got to the windows loading screen. So I've decided not to touch it for fear of making it worse. On a side note there was a thunderstorm the other day, and I shut down the computer as soon as I woke up, but I'm not sure if any damage may have been done before I got up. I have a surge protector but I'm starting to wonder if it might be shot. It is kind of old.

I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. It's been suggested that I put my video card into another machine to test and see if it's the card, or something else in the machine, but I'm afraid that doing that might corrupt the other computer.

Any advice? Please help.
