can't start DELL inspiron laptop

hi all, hope someone can help me to sort this out.
my 'dell' laptop gave me a error message --> 'a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL , DRIVER_CORRUPTED_MMPOOL'....'
I tried to reboot many many times last night and use the 'safe' mode but still no use. Today, no matter how hard I pressed the 'start' button, the 'machine' just start in 2-3 seconds then die, it didn't look for A: drive or C: drive to boot. I think something wrong with the BIOS. It didn't display the blue screen, I couln't go to the BIOS to check things. Can anyone tell me what I should do. IT is running XP, pentium 4 1.7G, HD -40G.
