Tumble and other are very correct !! you are not going to see but a slight improvement going from a 2.6 to a 3.0 on the same board especially

now if you were comparing your mobo and 2.6 against a 800mhz mobo runnign say a 3.2 ghz cpu in dual channel mode there would be better than a slight improvement >>>> however if I showed you the speed improvement ahead of time >>>> I really doubt I could pull the $600.00 out of you hand it would cost you to upgrade to that spec. you would need

800 mhz mobo (asus,abit, msi) $100.00
3.2ghz intel socket 478 $250.00
2 x 512 matched ram sticks 80.00
ATI video card 9800 pro AGP (used)85.00
new PSU to run a power hog 75.00 antec SP-500

as suggested by the others >>>> add more ram to yours >>> maybe some overclocking dont spend any big bucks upgrading for what little improvement you will see >>>>> unless $600.00 is reasonable to you ??????
