1. I already use firefox, but is there anything I can do to make it more secure, the way there were instructions for IE?
Not really. Just remember to check it for updates. A more secure alternative will be Opera.


2. Is it safe to stick with the Ewido demo you had me install earlier until I get my symantec protection back up?

Ewido is basically anti-malware. It isn't antivirus per se. You should temporarily put in one of those freeware programs like AVG or Avast. Another alternative is to use one of those 30 day trial programs from either Kaspersky, Panda, NOD32 or F-Secure

3. Is there anything wrong with the Windows Firewall?
If you have a hardware firewall, the built in SP2 firewall will do just fine. If not, get one of those 3rd party freeware like Zone Alarm.
