Those blank boxes which you're experiencing are probably caused by some security measures. Those boxes contained advertisements & the security apps have blocked the adservers.

Have you got any of these installed:

• Host File
• IE-SpyAd
• Spyware Blaster

If possible, kindly list down the security apps you have installed on the machine.
