Hi,
I need some more clarity. Do you have a regular copy of XP or just the restore disks? Also, you mentioned you wanted to Fdisk the drive, does this mean you plan on putting Fat32 back instead of NTFS?
If you have a regular Operating Disk with WinXP on it and want to use NTFs, then you need to:
Set your boot order in the BIOS setup menu to:
CDRom - 1st
Floppy - 2nd
Hard Drive you want to boot from - 3rd
Don't forget to save before you exit.
Put the WinXP disk in the CDRom and when it comes up, it will partition and format the drive with very simple instructions. Then, you can put the OS on the disk.
If you want to put Fat32 on the disk (I don't recommend this), then use the startup disk and when it comes up type Fdisk, then delete all partitons, create a partition, activate a partition, shut down, reboot and type format and let it do it's job....when done, reboot, and when it comes up. select with CDRom support......then, put the CD disk in the CDRom and type setup, enter and away it should go........that should get it partitioned and formatted in FAt 32 and have your OS start to load..
Post back with questions or concerns.
